BARN BURNER
Q: What are you doing for safety for Barn Burner?
A: We will have some awesome folks that love ham radios on course. They are phenomenal peeps that know how to keep everyone connected at all times. They will be positioned in strategic locations and will enable us to help keep tabs on riders. We will also have Guardian Transport on site should an emergency arise. That being said, if at any point you see a rider in need, be nice, and ask if they need help...karma is a good thing.
Q: Can I have a fire at the Barn Burner? Will you actually be lighting the Barn on fire?
A: Well Beavis, as much as we know you like fire, this will be dependent on the fire restrictions set forth by the National Forest Service. IF (big IF) we are allowed to have fires, they will only be above ground....and no, we are not lighting the Barn on fire...but the plan is for you to go through in the race!
Q: Can I ride a cross bike for the Barn Burner?
A: Per a USAC cycling official I know, he said this is legal....so far be it from me to say no to those that want to ride the cross bike on Saturday...ride it again on Sunday though too!!
Q: If I am camping at the Barn Burner with an RV or even in a tent, will there be assigned spaces or is it first come first serve?
A: This will be first come first serve, please note we reserve the right to move you for safety and or other reasons. We will have designated spots for campers and request you to use your space so that we can all get in and out nicely...and be cool to thy neighbor.
Q: Will there be a solo alley at Barn Burner?
A: Yep, you can't set up camp there, but you may drop gear, bottles and some other goodness to keep you rolling. You may need to share space. Be cool.
Q: Does EVERYONE get a buckle at Barn Burner?
A: No, you have to meet the set cut-offs to get a buckle. Different cut offs for the different size buckles.
Q: Do I HAVE to pick up my own packet at Barn Burner or can I have someone on my team do that for me?
A: Yea, YOU have to PERSONALLY pick up your own stuff...and sign a waiver. We want this all on the up and up. Thanks for your cooperation.
Q: Will you have showers at Barn Burner?
A: Yes, we will have showers...we know some of you "rough" it and some would like to be a bit cleaner after 104 miles of goodness.
Q: Is Barn Burner kid friendly? Dog friendly?
A: Yes and yes. Leash your dog though...we reserve the right to remove you and your dog if they are causing issues. We will be having a few kid activities and a PG movie on Sat pm.
TRIATHLON FAQ:
Q: What does the date for Rocky Point always move?
A: This is the best date for the resort and the tides. You can't mess with nature...and this is the best forecasted date for tides on a Saturday.
Q: Is it safe to travel to Mexico, I have heard a lot of bad things lately...
A: The Red Rock staff just went to Rocky Point in late FNovember 2009 to meet with the resort and the local authorities. We traveled with no issues and had a great time at the resort. That being said, there are recent reports of increased violence in Mexico, we recommend caravaning and traveling in groups as a precaution. There is always a risk traveling by car, plane by boat...to anywhere.
